Of the 702 carries, 650 were up the middle.

Should never be spoken of again.

“Darby up the middle, Hawaii LB makes the stop. No gain. 4th down.”

I felt that Lacy was quietly the most consistent back. Can't remember a single game in 2012 where he was shut down.

Lacy is underrated and an all time favorite of mine, though I will say in 2012 he was slowed sometimes before the LSU game, but from then on he was Heisman level.

Darby had all those carries and all those yards, but only 11 touchdowns. I bet he helped setup lots of field goal attempts though. Mike Shula offense ladies and gentlemen

Once we got to the goal line, Shula would typically order in the short yardage package of Le’Ron McClain and Tim Castille.

McClain was a terrific fullback. Played multiple years in the NFL. But I’d rather forget those years. There is so much to enjoy right now without reliving those dark days.
