Boys, this might finally be the year for Aggie

For the first time in years, there aren't any undue expectations on the season. Jimbo is no longer over-rated (or even rated at this point) and he didn't paint a big arse target on their back in the off-season.
As for their main competition in the west, they have arguably as much talent as LSU (and are inarguably much deeper) and beat us last year, have a more experienced and more talented QB than Bama and almost beat them last year, and they had a better defense than both of us even though it was the most inexperienced in the conference and was even dominate at times.
Losing Achane and a lot of young depth was huge, they still have a huge question mark with Jimbo, and Wiegman and will need to step up big time, but the pieces are there.
Again, the main reason for optimism is the fact they aren't over-rated, and to the contrary, have been kicked around by the national media (and lets face it, rightfully so) so much that it SHOULD be a huge motivating factor this year.
That said, I hope those mother frickers go 1-11 (cause frick Miami). Good luck my aggie amigos!

I agree, this looks like Texas A&M’s year.

I watched them for 2-3 games last year. Their run defense was so bad, I kept asking myself how a bunch of 5 star DLinemen could be so bad.

I think it all hinges upon the Jimbo/Petrino experiment and if a competent offense can come from it as a result.

Mike Elko and all of your experience walked out the door after 2022. Lack of experience and a complete scheme change. “Stars” mean shite once they step on campus.

I think this is one of those teams where you bet the over or the under on wins and you can tell after the third series of the first game whether your bet has hit or not.

I agree. I just wanted to point out the statement about having a better defense than bama and LSU. I just looked it up. aggies had the best pass defense in the SEC. But the worst rush defense by a good margin.

That is because Durkin played only three lineman quite a bit. Hope that failed experiment is done with

Without a doubt, and I will include Wiegman needing to take a leap forward as well. I don't believe they will win their division, but imo, they would be the most likely team not named LSU, Bama, or UGA to do so.

This year’s Aggie coaster is scrapping the lift hill and going for the launch start. They will come out big and win the first 4-5 but then they will enter the biggest vertical drop humanly possible.
That second half should be fun.

When you account for how bad that offense was and how many 3 and outs they had, that defense was damn good. With maybe the exception of UGA, no defense in the country could've been elite teamed with that offense

Who has year "84" in their Aggy NC pool?

Ehhh, I live in Texas and have more than a few aggie friends. Good guys, but I want them to suffer thru the fall, pretty much the same way they want me to.

I have Aggy finishing second in the SEC West in my predictions. Ahead of LSU behind Alabama.
I think they're going to be a good football team this year. Petrino always has a well put together offense that packages pass and run in a way that makes it hard for defenders.
I think the outstanding question for them is their ability to defend the run. They were porous on the ground in 2022. I think that is the reason why they lose to Alabama at home early in the season and end up losing the division due to tiebreaker or outright in the loss column.
