The folks over at ESPN really don't know that both of those programs will be middle of the pack starting out? They both are going to need to recruit better to fill out those rosters if they want to compete for Championships here in the SEC

We both finished higher than LSU in recruiting the last two years.

Judging how well a team is actually recruiting by only looking at class recruiting ranking finishes doesn’t tell the real story.

Everyone in the SEC has top-flight RB’s, WR’s, and DB’s. How well you recruit the O-line and D-line tells you if you are going to be elite or not.

No one recruited anywhere close to Bama in the O-line & D-line from 2009-2018. Thus, why they dominated. Since 2018, Georgia has recruited the O-line & D-line better than Bama, thus why they are two time National Champions.

Since Kelly arrived, LSU’s O-line recruiting is the best I’ve seen since Saban was here. The D-line is getting recruited at a much better level in terms of depth.

When looking at recruiting, look at who’s getting the elite O-line and D-line recruits and that’s who’s going to win. Right now, Georgia is smashing it out of the park and Bama hasn’t slowed down at all, while LSU has greatly improved in this area.

That’s where Texas & OU have to upgrade their recruiting to compete in this conference with the very best.
