7:09AM…..what are you waiting for?

I actually was searching for what happened to that R-Kansas class. TIA, if/when you do have a chance to compile this list.

Thank you my friend. I'll start with Tennessee. Sorry for any mistakes.

Drafted players:

Chase Dollander, SP
Maui Ahuna, SS
Andrew Lindsey, SP
Seth Halvorsen, RP
Jared Dickey, OF
Zach Joyce, RP
Jake Fitzgibbons, RP
Bryce Jenkins, RP

Lose 2/3 of the rotation and a huge chunk of the bullpen with the draftees and potential loss of Chase Burns in the transfer portal. Vitello reloading with transfers of his own, biggest pickup being Clemson corner infielder Billy Amick. Will be interesting to see how UT shakes out in the field with 3B Zach Denton going undrafted and set to return, along with power hitter Blake Burke returning at 1B.

Outlook: Expect the Vols to score plenty of runs despite losing their top three hitters in batting average, offense should be better next season than this season. If Burns does leave, there is no doubt UT's pitching regresses from the past two seasons.

Next up: Alabama

Drafted players:

Andrew Pickney, OF
Grayson Hitt, SP
Hunter Furtado, RP
Caden Rose, OF
Jim Jarvis, SS
Garrett McMillan, SP

The draft losses look like the least of Bama's problems as a veteran team departs and a new coach, Rob Vaughn, takes over. The transfer portal loss of stud 3B Colby Shelton was devastating to the Tide's chances next season. The top two returning starters in the lineup hit .260 with 9 home runs each. As to the pitching staff, ace starter Luke Holman is in the portal. If Holman leaves, Bama will have lost its top three starters from last season, plus potential ace Grayson Hitt who was injured for much of 2023.

Outlook: Projected to finish near the bottom of the SEC next year. Losing Holman would be the final nail in the coffin. Ben Hess has upside and may be the Friday starter. Hard to see Bama making the postseason.

Drafted players:
Actual 2023 MLB Draft Selections

2:68 - Cubs > Jaxon Wiggins
3:74 - Reds > Hunter Hollan
3:100 - Orioles > Tavian Josenberger
6:184 - Blue Jays > Jace Bohrofen
9:282 - Yankees > Jared Wegner
13:378 - Reds > Cody Adcock
16:487 - Mariners > Caleb Cali

2023 Signees drafted:

1:27 - Phillies > Aidan Miller
CB-A:36 - Dodgers > Kendall George
2:50 - Red Sox > Nazzan Zanetello
2:52 - Giants > Walker Martin.
5:150 - Twins > Dylan Questad
8:234 - Angels > Barrett Kent

Transfer Portal Commit drafted:

8:242 - Brewers > Craig Yoho

From MLB Top 250, we get:

#101 LHP Adam Hachmann
#139 LHP Colin Fisher (not in PG Top 100)
#141 LHP Hunter Dietz
#183 RHP Tate McGuire (not in PG Top 100)
#205 C Ryder Helfrick
#222 SS Nolan Souza

All above are PG Top 100, except those noted, along with:

#87 LHP Tucker Holland
#90 C Ty Waid

So overall, it's a pretty stout class.

Then you add in transfer portal adds:

SS/3B - Wehiwa Aloy
C - Hudson White
LHP - Stone Hewlett
CF - Ty Wilmsmeyer
OF - Ross Lovich
OF - Jack Wagner

Along with the young guys returning and veterans like Hagen Smith, Brady Tygart, Will McEntire, etc..

There's a lot to be excited about.

Thanks PT. Hogs look loaded in the pitching staff next season, even if only 2-3 of those incoming freshmen are as good as advertised. Lineup will need to be rebuilt without Bohrefen and Wegner, but Arkansas always seems to find a couple guys to step in and produce.

Outlook: SEC contender and potential CWS team.

But players that are drafted in the later rounds might not sign and hold out for next years draft. They can still return to school…

State came out OK. We’ll lose two signees plus Colton Ledbetter, Cade Smith, and Kellum Clark. But should get Aaron Nixon and Amani Larry back, which was iffy,

Thanks PT. That class has some serious potential. Hence my interest.

Even losing some of that star power in this class, most of which was to be expected, this is still one hell of a class.

SEC gets stronger.....

Rumors we might get Texas Tech's ace Molina too, who would probably be the Sunday starter. After all the injuries this past season DVH isn't taking any chances apparently lol
