Went on the Rivals podcast with Donnan and Dayne Young and had a lot of really exciting stuff to share:

- Baseball: This is only phase 1 of Foley, next step will be moving the scoreboard closer to center and developing both right and left field

- Basketball: they’re painting the ceiling of Stegeman black to give it a more modern look and plan to add premium seating and a massive video board to the wall where the mural currently is

- Track & Field: Plan is to build a new, large outdoor and indoor track off South Milledge and not only host college meets but youth and USTA meets as well.

- Football: Once the track is moved, they will add 2 new grass practice fields to that area along with a parking lot for football players.

I'd love to hear more on exactly what this entails. It's deflating watchign all other big ballparks around the south have these fun arse party decks in the outfields compared to what we have. Hopefully we'll join that club soon but I don' think they mentiond that in those initial renderings the other day did they?

I do love that since that mural was frankly a bit embarrassing, but at the same time I kinda hate that we're getting rid of the center hanging scoreboard. I think every arena worth a damn in america has a center hang scoreboard...we were very late to the party in getting one and now we have to remove it because fo the ceiling uh. I mean what if you're sitting in that student section behind the basket, or in the corners? You're gonna have to turn around every time to see it?

It's a double-edge sword...need to put up some winning teams before people show up. Need better facilities to get the players to compete. Hopefully with phase 1 that focuses on players and coaches, we can turn the program around quickly and then with expansion in the outfield, start packing the place out

None of this has been detailed yet and had only been supposed or hoped for until Brooks said it himself during the interview last night. He said the initial focus had to be advancing the student athlete experience by adding batting cages, the pitching lab, and a new locker room to put the training facilities on par with the rest of the conference. While doing so, it’s also allowing us to go ahead and address some things on the 3rd base side in terms of expanded seating and extending the awning to cover most of the existing seats. But he said after that’s done, the plan already is to do something about developing right and left field with the input of Coach Johnson.

So he didn’t say they’d be ditching the hanging Jumbotron. As it is now, we have a small wall video board and a hanging Jumbotron, I get the sense this would just be making that wall board way bigger and adding premium seating options to that area of the arena. I believe both the wall board and hanging unit would remain

Student section is moving court side like Auburn has theirs. It will no longer be behind the basket or stuffed into the corners

Plan is to move the outdoor track and build an indoor track both on South Milledge (near the Softball and Soccer complex, I would guess)

oh ok. Maybe I misremembered but I could've sworn a few months back during the whole roof chipping saga that they said they were going to ditch the center hang scoreboard due to the weight and stress it caused to the ceiling.

Maybe they are and I just missed it but Josh didn’t say anything about it in his interview

Shoulda been done at the same time they expanded the IPF, plenty of room at the Soccer/Softball facility to build a very nice T&F complex.

I don’t think McGarity had the inclination or the fundraising clout to make it happen. By all accounts, Josh is very likable and plays the development game very well.
