It's probably worse now. Coastal is a low-key gorgeous campus, but the problem is where it's located. It's between Hwy 501 and Hwy 544, two major routes to get from Conway to the beaches. There's nowhere for the campus to grow and you have almost zero on-campus housing, so most of the students live in these apartment complexes that are off-campus, some of which are miles from the campus. It lacks a college vibe and I think that contributes to some of the struggles they've had with fan support.

When UNC played there this year it seemed like most of the crowd were older locals instead of students. I watched on TV so might have been wrong.

It's a fun part of the country though, Myrtle brings back memories of high school spring break lol.
