On the one hand, he is trying to help his players.

On the other hand, if you cry wolf over and over then when you actually do have a diamond in the rough kid who bloomed late nobody is going to believe it because you said that Kirk Herbstreit's kid would actually be a great #3 NFL WR the year before.

I had a long conversation with Jim Haslett in the gym one day when he was scouting for Washington.
We started talking about him being at Alabama's Pro Day (mainly to look at Reuben Foster), and ended up talking about college coaches they deal with in the business. Although he didn't seem to personally like Coach Saban, he did say that he was one of the most trusted coaches when it came to sharing his evaluation of individual players. He said that if Saban told you something about a player, you could take it to the bank. He also said that it was a given that his players were some of the most well prepared for the NFL.
He seems like a nice guy...
