I no longer call Wilmington NC home.

Freeport, Florida is where you'll find me now.

I was under contract for 10 acres of unimproved land in Santa Rosa a few months back. Had to back out of that. Lots of wetlands and it was going to be a big financial investment. Probably more than I could swing in the end.

Happy that we waited. Scored just under 4 acres with three homesites already roughed in.

Yeah cmon.

I was just told by some friends at dinner that the Wilmington-North Myrtle stretch is the next big thing.

Wilmington is already a thing. All the beaches south towards Myrtle are Def booming.

Myrtle? Eh. Pass.

I'm just done with cities.

10 years in Chicago
Left for smaller city.
10 years in Wilmington
It's too big now.

I actually remember when you lived in Chicago and people joked that you owned a Fubu store. Was that really over ten years ago? I've definitely been posting here too long.

Love that part of Florida, have friends in Cape Coral and Ft Meyers...

You're also near the Braves Spring training camp.

Moved from Atlanta to the Gulf Shores area 3yrs ago when I finally retired, best decision ever. Love it down here except for the cost of homeowners insurance...

People shite on Florida but I wouldn't mind living there, save the hurricanes. I don't think I can do hurricane things.

Lived in Fernandina Beach for a little while when I was in the golf business. Still can’t remember why I moved back to this area

We looked at Fl 1st cause we've got a daughter and grands in Ft Walton.

Wanted to be close but not too close but the housing market is nuts in the Panhandle just like the rest of Fl.

We're 90 min to the kids which is perfect. Plus we're 45 min each to either Pensacola or Mobile, 15min to Fairhope which has 1 of the nicest downtown shopping/restaurant districts around plus 10 min to the Gulf Beaches.

Only thing that sucks is it is in Bammer...

Did a bit of time in Pensacola. Go to Destin almost every summer. Have an uncle who lives in Ebro but has a condo in PC and Destin.

You will like that area. It’s growing fast. I own some stuff there. The Publix was a big deal. Good fishing and lots of military folks and retirees.

I think that might actually be a strength as bad as the migration invasion has gotten.

Alabama has no mega cities to turn it blue. And like Mississippi, it stil has a “stigma” of being “backwards “ so that most northerners and commies etc would never consider living there. Georgia and South Carolina used to enjoy that stigma, but it’s mostly gone unfortunately. At least Georgia is so large geographically though so there’s still plenty of strongholds that remain unconquerable

I don’t know what’s going to happen in Florida the next few decades. They’re enjoying some high times right now with their current governor and how he handled the pandemic, but you still have Miami, Tampa, Orlando etc etc and all the commies and authoritarian lefties that are attracted to such places. And eventually the left will regain control in that state and they are chomping at the bit for revenge

Although, I could actually see northern FL and the panhandle joining South Georgia or Alabama whenever the break up gets triggered. Which is coming sooner than later.

Well...agreed on the yankee part. But we still have the same issue that the rest of america has, which is the liberal white woman. Places like mountain brook that you used to picture as OLD money deep south encalves are getting ever so slightly more blue by the year because of the aformenetioned LWW. In Hoover the library has a story hour and thankfully no drag queens, but there was a minor stir lately: LINK They were going to bring in an author who seems to only write about being a minority and pay him $3K to read to kids (bad, IMO). A parent complained abotu it and some board then canceled the visit (good). The backlash publicly was outrage that hoover could be so racist and backwards. I'm glad this was nipped in the bud, but pertrubed that it was green lit int he first place. I don't put much stock in what the social media mouthbreathers say. I'm rambling now but I guess my ultiamte point was that even in Alabama you're starting to see the slow creep of liberal infestation.
