Georgia fans wanted us to stay quiet about this tragedy

Georgia fans were saying that this was simply a tragedy that took two lives and we should respect it. Wanted everyone to stay quiet and not look into it any further.
Of course it’s deeper than that. When you have a drunk staffer racing a car that belongs to the Georgia athletic department against another football player, there’s going to need to be some accountability here. I hope the victim’s family sues the shite out of Georgia’s athletic program.

They were really mad that the AJC had the audacity to investigate and report on the incident.

The Georgia posters in the other thread assured me it sounded like college students being college students. Who hasn’t killed a student by racing at twice the legal BAC?

Sounds like their policy was to go twice the speed limit and use the center turn lane to overtake UGA players in races. At least that’s what I gathered from the police report anyways.

thUGA is real. But I’ve always associated UGA football with thuggery. This is nothing new.

Nothing to see here
Drivers were only transporting cars to friends after being texted to deliver the automobiles
The people who were victims of the car crashes simply should not have been out so late at night

The question will be, in regards to the dead player, is UGA responsible for a drunk employee of the University operating a university vehicle crashing and resulting in the death of the player.
I think just in general, I am going to assume that all signs point to yes, and that the family probably settles a lawsuit for a considerable sum of money without much resistance from the university.
As to whether or not sporting sanctions occur from the NCAA or SEC, well that much remains to be seen.

Deceased staffer in question was a 23 year old recruiting assistant driving a rental vehicle that was being used earlier in the day for the Celebration parade. It didn’t belong to UGA and her use of it was against stated policy.

But is that better than UF’s policy of having their QB’s have child pornography?

Georgia has some dumb asses on their team, but they know how to football.

NCAA has no jurisdiction as impermissible benefits toward current athletes weren’t involved. At worst they could go after the surviving staffer from the wrecked car but even they aren’t that tone deaf.
SEC could do something in theory if they felt so inclined but they tend to not involve themselves in off the field matters at member institutions; what would be the point?
