Since we’re starting to talk position groups going into Spring ball this year, let’s talk OL.
I know we have SVP, Ratledge and Truss all back. We lose Jones, McClendon and, tragically, Willock…
Looks like the only real positions of question are the two tackle spots. Does Truss have any ability to slide out there or are we looking at two totally new faces on the outside? I haven’t followed recruiting as closely as I used to over the last couple years, so who do we have in waiting?

All NFL starters. Period.

Truss has the ability to slide out for depth at tackle.
I'm guessing Mims LT, Greene RT.
Blaske may be our utility man (similar to how we had Cade Mays as first man up at every spot on the line).
I've heard great things about Morris and Fairchild. The first one off the bench is up for grabs.

Likely to be Greene at LT. Mims will probably stay at RT.

That's how it played out in 2022.
I think the offseason is up for grabs.
And best man wins (who do you think best man is?)
If Mims isn't our best tackle in y3, we did something wrong along the way.

Meh. Some of that has to do with what formations you use the most and what you may be asking one tackle to do more than the other. It also has to do with the player himself. Now I’m sure you won’t care because it’s a personal anecdote, but I played tackle all through high school for my small private school. Junior and senior year I was the best lineman on the team but I only ever played right tackle because I couldn’t get a good enough technique/ pass set starting with my left foot back. Nothing was wrong with me physically, I just was better with my right foot back. Also, running right is generally considered the “strong” side because you’ll more often add the TE on that side, so you’re more likely to run to that side. If they’re close in pass pro but Mims is clearly the better run blocker, that could also be a reason he stays at RT

Isaiah Wilson was this way too.

Bad example.
Wilson was right tackle because Andrew Thomas was left tackle.
If Wilson returned for his 4th year, he would have manned left tackle. Draft grade said that he didn't need to.

I wish I could find the practice reports from back then but it was from the “insider” reports that said IW had that backing up the left foot issue and that limited his LT reps and I believe it was Truss or someone else young at the time who got the majority of 2nd team LT.

Fair enough.
My point was that he wasnt going to start left tackle over Thomas. So all planning with Wilson was as plan B at that time.
Also... Wilson is a different type of athlete than Mims. Skinny ankles and all.
