Both schools wanted it, the SEC office wanted it cancelled because if scheduling.. which I don’t get.. why does it matter?

It matters because the Big12 would have gotten the revenue from the game this season as it would have been on Big 12 tv networks. And in 2031 they aren't returning the favor because Oklahoma is already in the SEC.
