If people just stopped engaging them, they'd likely stop trolling (or even if they didn't, their threads would disappear quite quickly off the first page).
I agree, but Imo, the problem seems to be a severe lack of maturity shown by 6-8 of the regulars on the board. The juvenile mind is always looking for approval and acceptance, so if there is no response to their rant, they'll usually abandon it, and hunt for a like-minded one to get on board with!

Maybe I’m one of the people you labeled a troll, whatever that means. I’m not really sure. I’ve been lurking here, reading posts, for years and I post every so often, usually in game threads, but not that often. I rarely read and never post on the rant.

I’ve made it obvious I am in the camp that thinks Saban could have done much much better with both of these hires, especially with the DC. I honestly do not believe these hires are upgrades and are lateral moves at best. And I find all this talk of “I’m beginning to like these hires” or “we will have to just wait and see how they do” or “how can you be upset they haven’t called a play for Alabama” talk ridiculous. Obviously they both have a history of work you can look at with your own eyes that tells you what they are capable of. When you have to start making excuses like they did that with less talent, but with our players they can get us back to where we need to be, it just tells me my opinion is probably accurate.

I guess I thought this was a place where I could at least express my opinion and viewpoint, and at least be able to discuss my take on these hires, no matter if it was in opposition to the majority of people on here, and I thought that based on how I’ve observed the board over the years. Perhaps I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

Because now it appears that certain posters want to weed out anyone who has opinions that are in opposition to theirs. I’ve read multiple comments where people say it makes the board unbearable to have to read these comments, even though I’m not really sure how reading something you don’t agree with can be that unbearable. And now in this thread it’s become, just don’t respond to them and they will go away.

Is that what the team boards are supposed to be? A hive mind of sunshine pumpers that have positive reactions to a statement from a talking head, or an old QB on a radio show, or the new hires girlfriend posting a picture of a hat? Maybe expressing a different opinion than the majority makes me a troll, I don’t know, maybe I don’t get to decide that. Either way I’ll follow the lead of Pastor Mike and I’ll stop talking about how much of a mistake these hires are and how much I hope I’m proven wrong.

It’s not just looking for acceptance. There are 6-8 regulars who have a juvenile need to gain self-esteem from someone else’s exploits.

I get that we all naturally gravitate to support our representatives - that is, the guys or girls who represent our school, city or country in various events whether athletic or academic. We all love our guys and root for them to win, and we are a little bummed when they lose. However, a well adjusted adult realizes that their true value and self esteem lies in their own accomplishments not someone else’s. And they don’t take irrational views or have mercurial opinions, eg., wanting to see the true GOAT “move on”because we haven’t won the championship in two years or believing that being a former player qualifies them to do a better job of coaching or hiring staff than a guy who’s won 7 freaking championships.

But, alas places with a degree of anonymity bring out these types.
