I agree. It wasn't the offense carrying those teams. It was Connor Shaw. He made things happen with grit and determination. He outsmarted opposing defenses. He made something out of nothing many times. As for the defense during those years, it was good, true. They had some good games, but never really shut the opposition down consistently. In the close games, if you take one of those defensive players away, the Gamecocks still win. If you take Connor Shaw away, the Gamecocks lose all the close ones. Shaw has my vote for the best QB the Gamecocks have ever had.

Clowney won us a lot of games.

Big Sack vs UT
Plays against UGA
4 sacks vs Clemson


shaw was good, but put Garcia or Thompson in there and we probably win as many games.
