That 2019 home loss to SC sticks in my craw not because it had any influence on our season whatsoever (it did not), but because we could be smashing some all-time records for consecutive home wins otherwise. Oh well. We've been winning so much lately I wanted to look up a few streak related items.

-Our longest home winning streak is 24 from 1980-1983. Next longest WAS 17 from 2001-2004 but with last season's finale against tech we are currently sitting at 18. We have 7 home games next year and will undoubtedly win the first 6 to tie us for the longest streak. Should we beat ole miss in teh home finale we'd own the record outright at 25.
-I found an article about nation's longest home win streaks in history and the last place listed team was a 28-er, so depending on if we're still better than AU and UT in 2024 we could make our mark nationally. The longest btw is 58 by miami spanning over a decade (as an aside, had we not lost to SC in '19 we'd currently be at 35 which would be tied for 17th best ever. Run the table in 2023 and we'd be at 42, good for 7th all time)
-Overall we've won 17 straight games. Idk what our overall longest is but in the early 80s we had 15 straight and I think also had around 15 straight in the early 40s, so we might already have our longest. Assuming we go 12-0 again heading into the SECC we'll have 29 straight. I found an article on SEC teams' longest winning streaks with the record being 28 by bama in 1978-1980, so should we go perfect in the regular season we would set the all time conference mark. After our first 4 tune up games next year puts us at 21 consecutive wins we'll already be 4th place in SEC history in that regard.
-If we do go 12-0 heading into the SECCG next year that would put us in a tie for the 13th best streak of all time in CFB. Win the SECC and we're 12th. Don't lose a game again in 2023 and we'd have the 8th longest streak of all time at 32. It would be only the 2nd such streak in the 21st century behind Miami's run of 32 from 2000-2002.
-On the 2024 schedule we know we will play Tennesse Tech, umass, ga tech, AU, UT, and vandy at home. I believe we will probably have one more cupcake fill out the home schedule but I don't think that's known at thsi point? At any rate, assuming again that we can beat AU and UT at home in 2024, our home win streak could balloon to 32 straight. That would be the 15th best mark all time in CFB and 2nd best ever in SEC history behind bama's 57 from 1963-1982

Ironically, we lost that game by being too aggressive.
Failed 4th down attempts.
Forcing the passing game.

Didn't we have the record for consecutive extra points until last season?

We have tied the all time longest win streak in program history at 17. It was first set back in the 40’s.

If we beat UT-Martin, we’ll have the program record. Spoiler alert…
