I don’t understand Oklahoma’s position at #3…no NCs or wins in the CFP. Florida’s ranking at #7 is also questionable. They had a good run from 2005-2009, but that’s about it.

These use SP+ rankings over the last twenty years, which are essentially power ratings. They have less to do with on the field results than the quality of the team. A lot of years, a 7-5 SEC team will be top-15/20 team in SP+ rankings. They basically rank who’d be favored against who on a neutral field.

Oklahoma dominates ranking systems which do not take championships into account, because they're always highly ranked. They just never do anything noteworthy with those high rankings.
