After reading this article, I wonder if this might be a bit premature. I think I would have waited until the hearing on 1/18 before making a determination.

It was not premature. The criminal proceedings, and Beard's actual guilt or innocence, has nothing to do with this. He signed a contract with a morality clause. Any conduct that is unbecoming to the university means he can be fired. Catching a Felony Strangulation arrest, and biting your fiancee during a fight, resulting in pictures of you in prison clothes before a judge, is conduct unbecoming.

Beard and this chick had a volatile relationship going back to his time in Lubbock. He should have dumped her when he got his dream-job. He screwed up.

Beard, the fiancé & their relationship history were a concern coming in. In the week prior to the arrest the couple were drawing negative public attention & we saw the result of the buildup.

She's a psycho & he has his demons, the bottom line is he was the HC @ the University & that comes with responsibilities that he could not honor.

The last month was simply getting the ducks in a row to be as clean as possible for a certain legal battle over the balance of the contract.

Beard's screwed and entirely brought this shite upon himself.
