Correct me if I'm wrong, but big 10 teams have gotten dog walked in the playoffs the last few years.

Both the SEC and Big 10 are very top heavy this year. Michigan/Ohio State & Georgia/Tennessee are on another level than the rest of their conferences this year.

Bowls are a let down for most teams with talent. Players would rather be at home waiting for the draft.
