How near and dear is the bulldog as a mascot for State fans?

I don't know the backstory if there is one, but Bulldog's a super common mascot in the NCAA started by Yale. If I were student body member, I would petition to rebrand as the Mississippi State Pirates. I can think of no better way to honor Coach Leach than that. If there's a big backstory to the bulldog mascot, I get it and wouldn't suggest it. I'm sure this will get rave reviews, but whatever. I think it'd be awesome. I'm gonna make a shirt that say State Pirates and don't give a shite what anyone says about it
He gave the last years of his life to Ms State. Had pneumonia all year and still went to work everyday because his players and State meant that much to him. Idk. I'd love to see it for a game at least. If yall pull out black Pirates unis for the bowl game recruits and everyone else would go crazy.

At least as near and dear as other SEC teams' mascots.

Though that would be a fine gesture and the Pirate would be cool, history and tradition shouldn’t be overridden by emotions.

Also, I advise anyone out there who is so inclined, hold off for a few weeks before tattoos are considered, they last longer than the magnitude of the situation.

Bully is pretty deep rooted.

But, he rides out on his dog house to “Bad to the Bone” in pre-game. I feel pretty strongly he should fly the skull and bones during that sequence from now until the world ends.

Name a portion of the student section “Pirates Cove” or something.

They’ve been Bulldogs for 100 years.
