If we bring one in through the portal, it will be because we lost one or more through the portal, and would probably be to be a backup

UGA will have all 3 QBs through spring football.

I don't know why a QB would transfer for the summer to be a backup QB if he was any good.
At best, I could see a Dii or G5 QB transfer just for the opportunity to help his coaching chops after college. But no QB capable of playing is going to select a school where he is on the bench his last season of college football.

I'm on record stating that all 3 UGA QBs stick around if Carson wins the job. So we don't have a need, anyway.

I still believe Gunner Stockton will be our starting QB in 23. If not to start the season, then at some point. I do think that the first 4 games on the schedule will provide the best scenario to break in a new starter.

I understand what you are saying and it makes sense, but isn’t that exactly what Stetson Bennett did?

There are tons of kids that go into the portal every year.

If Vandegriff decides to transfer we will have two QB’s on scholarship. I can’t imagine us going into the season like that. Maybe we have a preferred walk on that is good enough? I don’t know. I would be surprised. (Or maybe I am forgetting something? Always possible)
