If by irrelevant you mean not winning NCs then Georgia was irrelevant for FOUR decades before getting over the hump last year.
Before Saban, Bama was in the conversation for most prestigious program of all time along with about 6 or 8 others. Since Saban did what he has the last 15 years, Bama is inarguably the preeminent program in CFB history.

Georgia has been consistently good for the last 2 decades just couldn’t win a ship til last year.
They still aren’t blue bloods bc winning 1 ship in 40 years doesn’t mean shite. But if they pull off the repeat this year they certainly are trending in that direction.
