edit to add- The Media that runs the polls for decades favored the northern teams over the southern. Yet SEC teams won the NC 3 times in the 1950's, 3 in the 1960's, 3 in the 1970's, 1 in the 1980's, 3 in the 1990's, 5 in the 2000's, 6 in the 2010's, and so far 3 for 3 in the 2020's
Since 1970, Big Ten teams have won 3 NC total.

Edit to add- while all of the above NC by Alabama were either AP or UPI,
Ohio State's 61 was by Football writers and 1970 was by
National Football Foundation

Yep and then played and beat the #1 team (Penn State) in the Sugar Bowl
OSU lost to Wisconsin in 1942
OSU lost to TCU in 1957 (AU was unbeaten)
OSU tied TCU in 1961 (Alabama won the AP and UPI polls)
OSU lost to Stanford in the Rose in 1970 (and still tries to claim a NC)

So 8.....
Since WWII, when the college football world said that the winning of the AP, UPI, CFP, BCS etc. was the true champion, Alabama has only counted those NC. Ohio State does not seem to follow that rule (61 and 70)

And many teams were awarded the NC before the bowls (1976 is when it stopped)
You can try and defend Ohio State all you want, but OSU is just a shadow of Alabama's program.
My goodness child, Alabama plays in a conference with 4 of the top 13 teams all-time in wins (and they are all founding members of the SEC)

Oh child, we are talking about teams when they are SEC teams. You are using records over the teams when they were in other conferences. The SEC does not use the records over Penn State before they joined the Big Ten.
I would think the Big Ten counts the NC won by Nebraska and Penn State before they joined in their records.
