Mizzou v Kansas in Liberty Bowl nixed

Brett McMurphy and all, but Mizzou, y'all really do this? Seems like it would be an *awesome* game. I'd tune in, for sure.

Any truth to this?

Our bowl projection is all over the place.

I doubt we end up playing an SEC team at all.

What are you holding out for over the liberty?

I think BM is just trying to stir shite. We play UK in CoMo the same day as the Liberty Bowl. A Liberty Bowl matchup with kU would have been fun, but it just wasn't logistically viable this year.

I certainly hope this is a joke.

Ok, that part actually makes sense.

Our opponents seem to be pretty set based on projections… either Illinois, Minnesota, or Notre Dame.

I'm in the minority, but I want Purdue in the Citrus.

It’s not that we “don’t want to play kansas.” We are restarting the football side of the rivalry in 2025.

It’s most likely the scheduling issue of a home basketball game versus Kentucky conflicting with the day of the Liberty Bowl.

Potentially losing both games that day would be quite a day for Mizzou.

I'm bummed because Memphis is just a few hours away. It would have been a fun atmosphere. I anticipate the atmosphere at Mizzou Arena will be pretty intense in about a week. You bringing your angry arse to CoMo?

It would’ve been one of the more intriguing opponents we could draw, but I do think that reviving the series in the regular season will mean more than some pointless Bowl. Not to mention we will have many players sitting out in preparation for the draft and kansas probably has no future pros on their team

Yes. That’s how games work. You can potentially lose them. Thanks for that insight.

Your athletic department is so inept that they can’t manage two events on the same day? That is some interesting spin your folks decided to run with.

These games should be played, the biggest embarrassment in a rivalry is chickening out.

Play the game. Its good for the sport and would have brought a sold out bowl game and a huge tv share compared to two teams that dont have a rivalry.

For tamu of them.

No, mizzou is holding out for vegas. Playing ku in the liberty bowl would suck for mizzou as we host uk that same night. Our AD came from UNLV, and has big ties to Vegas, thats why we think we have a shot at playing #17 ucla.

So yes, we did say no to that game, but it wasnt to dodge ku, there are better options for us.
