ONE. Will Anderson.
That’s the biggest problem.

We won a championship in 2020
Why don't you use that as an example?

Cause it had the greatest offense arguably ever and it reallly didn’t matter if we could play good defense or not

08-17?
A ton of this is coaching dependent. With better coaching, this defense would be every bit as good as 2015 as a unit.
Depending on the year. Anderson, Turner, Oatis, Branch, Kool-Aid, Ricks, Battle, Byron Young, and To'oTo'o at least.
Don't try to tell me Trey Depriest or Prince Hall or Cory Reamer were better than To'oTo'o. Or that Christian Miller/Terrell Lewis/Adrian Hubbard were better than Anderson/Turner. Oatis wouldn't start in 15 or 16. But he would in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Battle and Branch, with proper coaching, are extremely physically talented guys. Same with Young, Kool-Aid, and Ricks.

I mean, what year we talking here? Cause a bunch of these guys play on the 2013/2014 defenses.

You may have a case in 2014…..may.
But Fatass Trey Depreist was better than TooToo.
Dickson and Hubbard weren’t as good as Will and Dallas…. True.
Interior DL isn’t even comparable, 2014 way better.
Safety: Nick Perry, Landon Collins, and Jarrick Williams were a better unit than Battle , Hellams, and Branch.
CBs: Kool-Aid and Ricks are probably better than Cyrus Jones and the revolving door of Sylve and Eddie Jackson

I don’t think some of you guys realize how bad Depriest was lol… I understand HT has had some bad moments but Depriest was literally a body out there, just getting cardio.
Most of these guys would play with better coaching.

Moody, Turner, and Young would get reps.

As a guy that needs to do more of it, I realize I am the pot calling the kettle black. Trey has never done cardio.

As good as 2015? Lol no. You’re talking about a team with Fitzpatrick, Reed, Robinson, Foster, Ragland, Tim Williams, etc. if you remember (you likely don’t)

It’s not really the fairest thing in the world to compare 2011 CFB in 2022 CFB

If you really want to be honest?
4 or 5
The players are less of a problem than the scheme. I just watched the college football nerds clip, and they lay out where we’re putting players in positions that are a huge disadvantage to them.
Will Anderson trying to stand up against a guard that is stronger than him and outweighs him by 50 pounds? Worse Turner is doing the same thing on the other side outweighed by 70.
I’d called our defense weak, and it appears I am not exactly correct. We’re just trying to do the wrong things with the wrong players far too often.

Anderson. That’s probably it. A few others could earn playing time (Turner, Oatis, Young, Kool-Aid, and Branch).
