against us down inside the 5 yard line every time? It's never called. Of course had the refs called the blatant block in the back on the 25 yard qb run for a touchdown in OT we would probably have never been in that situation.

Why do we continue to line up so we can be easily picked?

Play press and we win. It’s that’s easy.

I didn't think that it was an illegal pick play. The design of the play did "pick" Battle but that is just a really good play call.

I just watched the final play for the first time since Saturday night and it was impressive that Battle got there as fast as he did because he had to run through 4 dudes basically to defend the pass. I am not an Xs and Os guy but it seems like they should have passed Mason off to Ricks since he was on the outside, and let Battle take one of the other two WRs that were on the line? Idk, that was nearly an impossible play for Battle to make.

Of all the blame for Saturday night, the refs are at the bottom of list. The bigger question you should ask regarding this particular play, is how we could possibly come out of a timeout with too many men and not burn our own to get everyone on the same page??? Our coaches watched a guy sprint 25 yards to get off the field and don’t even consider calling timeout?

I will never forgive or forget this. WTF are you saving that TO for? It's the last play of the fricking game, win or lose. You had confusion amongst the personnel. You had a guy trying to sprint off the field. You just got a free look at LSU's alignment so you can talk about the possible plays. Why in God's name don't you burn that time out? And on this item, the blame rests solely on Saban. He's the final say and he should have had the presence of mind to use that time out. I'm still just incredulous and incredibly mad and frustrated at the stupidity of that gaffe by the GOAT and some of the highest paid coordinators anywhere.

The better question is why do we allow ourselves to get into a position where this kind of a play can decide the game?

Evidently Saban must believe timeouts are for sissies.
There is no other explanation.

But, listening to Saban mention, a few times, that Battle was in position to make the play.
Battle did everything he could to make that play, so maybe, it was the play call.

The pick is a great play to call if you've got only one play left to run, and need 3 or less points. If the flag is thrown, you simply back it up the penalty yardage and kick the FG, or extra point. The receiver making the pick needs to sell properly to the ref.
PS-Saban should have called it on one of his two!

I felt the same way until a buddy of mine mentioned the possibility of wanting to see how they lined up to decide on our personnel. Basically send two guys out and depending on how they line up one guys comes off. I don’t know.

I have a bigger issues with Saban’s comment about not thinking LSU would go for two but had the defense prepared for the second OT if LSU scored?? Then why not use THAT defense against the two point try in the first OT. WTF even is that???

This.
The only real way to defend the puck play is what atm did to us in 2012 when they picked off AJ. And even then, the throw has to be a little off.
Jamming doesn’t work when they align 7 tight on the line and set the Wrs off the line.
NFL teams are now constantly running pick plays. No matter where the offense is on the field.
As someone who loves defense, I hate that shite

Saban said they did everything right on the play but tackled him one yard too late. I know he doesn’t believe that. The play assignment was wrong, they all know it.

I was actually shocked that Battle was able to weave through all the traffic and get there. Just one step slow of the receiver
