I'm still melting over not putting MH in the game

They were crashing the middle and KJ kept feeding the ball to the running backs. Rocket Sanders was killing himself trying to cut it outside.

I have no idea why KJ wouldn't pull the ball and run in the 1st half? MH would have destroyed them on these RPOs to the outside. What am I missing?

I can only surmise that what you are missing is that neither Sam nor KB has any intention of seeing Hornsby as the quarterback of this team, unless there is absolutely no other option. I wish I knew the reason for this, so I could know whether to be pissed at Hornsby, or our coaches.

100% this.

I’ve heard that Pittman asked Briles if a change at QB was needed and Briles said no.

Bro...you’re the MF’ing head coach. You call the shots.

I honestly think it’s a mixture of Pittman’s lack of HC experience and undying loyalty to his assistants.

He made a big mistake not putting Malik in the game. Now he has lost the trust of the players, and I think that’s showing up in their lack of fight and effort. With this transfer portal situation, we may be headed for the basement again

Said this as well.

O line is getting crucified but it was mostly a horrendous day of reads from KJ.

Neither the O line nor KJ even looked like they wanted to be out there Saturday. KJ you can understand, if he was beat up or sick all week. I think someone else hit on the O line and maybe the rest of the team, in that starting KJ knowing that he was at 40% or less lost the trust of the team.

Then don’t play? More afraid of being Wally Pipp than being injured.

KJ is set up for failure there. By our coaches actions this season, success or failure depends on whether KJ plays. Very few players in his position are going to make that call for the coaches. KJ gets dragged if he makes that call. Either KB or Sam should have manned up and said he's not going out there in his condition. Certainly KB should have, and if not KB, Sam should have. There's no excuse for either of them for trotting him out for the second half.

Hornsby hasn't exactly set the world on fire when he has been on the field.

Y'all keep screaming "put MH in!" Then when he's in we do poorly and y'all shut your pie holes for a couple of weeks.

It is what it is. I get that we are in full on meltdown mode and I should be befouling myself in anger and screaming we need a new coaching staff... but I'm willing to let the rest of the season play out and go from there.

When our secondary dropped like flies the first game of the season we moved from dark horse contender for the West to hoping to make a bowl game. Sometimes you just get bit in the arse during a season.

There’s plenty of blame to go around.

The OL got their shite pushed in, especially the right side of the line. They collapsed the right side of our line repeatedly. Wagner will have nightmares about #11 for years.

The coaches knew what Liberty was going to do and didn’t do anything to counteract it.

KJ made terrible reads on passing downs.

The coaches kept stubbornly forcing the run, especially on early downs, despite being completely ineffective and the pass working.

The coaches made next to no adjustments offensively, as evidenced by scoring zero offensive points in the 3rd quarter.

I thought Hornsby did well for himself and the team vs. Mississippi State, despite being shunned for a guy everyone could tell wasn't as good as him. Sure, he made mistakes, but nothing that a little PT wouldn't fix. Apparently he isn't going to get it here, whether he deserves it or not.

How much worse could Hornsby have been in the first 3 quarters Saturday?

His speed would have been the spark in that game. Liberty wouldn't have had an answer IMO. Like when Bama put their backup in

?? this.

Unfortunately we will never know, because our coaches are under the impression that if they replace KJ for even one series just to see if it helps our offense means that KJ can never play another down of college football ever again.
