Carlsbad (Calif.) four-star quarterback Julian Sayin visited Alabama on Oct. 22. LSU held a close lead for his commitment heading into the trip, but the tables turned in Tuscaloosa.

“Before the visit, LSU was kind of leading and then I had the visit,” Sayin told On3. “It was a really great visit.”

The Bama QB transfer portal is gonna look like a Barrett-Jackson auction in a couple years

2022 5 star Ty Simpson
2023 4 star Eli Holstein
2023 4 star Dylan Lonergan
2024 5 star Julian Sayin

Simpson I'm guessing would succeed Bryce for the next couple years. Then what with the others?

Milroe is still in the mix. If his throwing improves, he's a deadly weapon, albeit a BIG if.

Dangerous runner for sure. I was kind of counting him out for the next guy based on his passing but obviously I don't know who's up next post Bryce.

2023 - R-FR Simpson/R-SO Milroe battle, loser transfers (Holstein/Lonergan RS)

2024 - same QB (R-SO Simpson OR R-JR Milroe) (one of Holstein/Lonergan sees writing on wall and transfers) (Sayin redshirts)

2025 - R-SO Holstein/Lonergan vs R-FR Sayin battle, loser transfers

That is probably the least chaotic most reasonable path - but it's the transfer/NIL era so the best plan is just to have as many guys as you can and hope a couple stick.

Kind of the state of the game now I guess and Bama (probably Ohio State too) are as well suited as anyone to take as many as you can, let em battle it out and loser transfers out to a more favorable depth chart.

Basically a no lose setup if you can do it. Amass that much talent and odds are good you hit on a multi year starter.

I doubt it. He may start the first game next year but at least by the 3rd or 4th game I suspect it will be Simpson, or possibly a 3rd or 4th year transfer.

Yep - I think so. But the portal is quickly becoming a big weapon for coaches who are able to evaluate players that may have played in different schemes but have tape out there where you can grade their athleticism against legitimate college players and then make a decision on how that might fit better in your offensive/defensive system.

Lots of QBs are going to end up struggling early at their 1st stop and then finding a home where they really flourish that way I think.

Walker Howard was rated lower than Ty Simpson. That didn’t stop Sayin from committing to Alabama
