Alabama has a better D than UGA and look what happened to them…shewwwwweeeeee
Maybe we just need to sprinkle in some of that Kent State offense to add with ours.
People can argue about the reasons why Alabama had so many penalties for so many yards in that game.
But it doesn't really matter because regardless of the reason I really don't see Georgia getting the same treatment and/or making the same mistakes.
That's the thing Tennessee fans always want to ignore about the game. They were aided a lot by the refs, justified or not, and it's certainly not something you can count on.

Well... considering we were missing our entire starting secondary against you I'll gladly take those penalty yards. Bama needs to stop holding reciecers everytime an opposing QB drops back to pass.

Yep. UGA's defense isn't based on having a pass rush.
It really is a different approach than I've ever seen. You are right, they don't try to get vertical, quickly, from the line. But they move left to right better than any defensive system I've ever watched.
What always looks odd to me is, when they do send additional pressure, why it often comes from inside ... the A and B gaps. If those gaps are closed, the staff is stubborn. They'll keep sending the pressure into those same closed gaps.
Tenners splits on the line, I think, are custom made to stop those inside pressures. Its another example, if you ask me and you didn't, of a concept better suited for a 4-3. I'd like to see Georgia's approach of a constant, systematic collapse of the pocket with one more lineman and one less linebacker.

Your team cheats every play because refs have been ordered to look the other way during the Saban dynasty.
Now that his time is almost up, refs are tired of gifting Bama every play. UGA is the new SEC favorite for now.

Seriously, what do you find so funny ? The idea of an extra lineman doing the "collapse the pocket" thing that much quicker ? Or the idea of not sending the blitzing linebacker right up the arse of his own nose-tackle as the line closes off that A or B gap ?
GA - Tenner is going to be interesting. Will the D-Line get to the QB quickly enough to matter ? Will Tenner abandon the run ? Because they still run more than they throw, for those who haven't been paying attention.
I suspect this will be a breakout game for Georgia's TE room.

UGA needs to scheme Bowers open every other play if they want a chance.

I do think Georgia is uniquely suited, on the offensive side of the ball, to give Tennessee fits. Because of exactly what you said. They have as good a crop of TEs as I've seen in college ball. Between the bunch of them, I'd like to see them targeted at least twelve times.
Which is what pisses me off about the Kentucky game. Look, Tenner is better this year. But Kentucky had success going to the TE early, and just walked away from it. I can not stand our coaching staff.
Georgia is much better coached. Should be a good game to watch.

This notion that our base MINT defense is so different from the body types in a 4-3 front.
Our Jack linebacker will 3 point stance as often as a 4-3 defensive end.

Kentucky does that as well.
Which, again, begs the question. If you're going to put a linebacker in a down stance more often than not ... there is a defense that does that with a better athlete. It's the 4-3.

You’ll find out just how “good” your pass defense is soon enough.
Y'all might throw for 500 yards against us and score 50 points. But honestly. Would you rather your defense get tons of sacks or give up fewer points?
Our defense gets fewer sacks but we are #1 in points allowed in the SEC and nobody is even close to us. Again. Tennessee has played a tougher schedule and you might expose us this weekend. We'll have to see.

That is not the strength of the Georgia defense or has it ever been. Most UGA defenses just play very sound fundamentals. They are really good at excelling in their scheme.

4 teams scored more points on North Carolina than Tennessee did.

Tennessee defense ranks 9th in yards per rush which often forces teams to play one dimensional. Quarterbacks feel the pressure to keep up with our offense and start forcing throws. Hence the sacks and leading the SEC in interceptions. This is how they’ve thrived up to this point and after watching Stetson against Florida, got to believe he will fall into the trap too

I really enjoyed reading what you wrote. As far as people who respond to a detailed post with a few negative words or an acronym, it's just bizarre and child like and a waste of bandwidth.

Georgia's D linemen do the thing where they extend their arms and try to control the O line and take them where they want to go, one side or the other. The only ones on our defense who ever rush the quarterback like their nuts are on fire are our middle linebackers, who blitz often. Every now and then on a third down you'll see a Georgia edge rusher try to get straight to the quarterback.
It's sort of boring to watch, but winning never gets old.
