Zero due diligence.
Auburn is a good program but it faces the toughest schedule in the nation as UGA and Bama are committed to winning whatever the cost.
That said Auburn has a strong base, good history and national exposure and strong booster base as well. The NIL program is very strong as well.

I remember Auburn fans were pointing out how he won many games as a HC at Boist State!
Plus, many Auburn fans were defending the hired.

Because Allen Greene met Harsin in a hot tub and liked him

This seems like a good gripe for one of those classic Auburn open letters. Do you have any good Auburn men or women you can dispatch to get this done?

He had a 70% win percentage. Seemed good on paper, but with some of his character issues it's pretty clear our AD didn't do his due diligence.

Believe it or not it could have been worse. The big money boosters wanted Kevin Steele and The AD Allen Green wanted his guy and he picked Harsin. Non of the boosters or people that mattered never like the hire from the start. Harsin didn’t have a chance the minute he accepted the job.

Kevin Steele would have been much better. Like they say, hindsight is 50/50.

If the system over the years went in the favor of Auburn, it’s a potential 5x national championship program with 1983, 1993, 2004. That’s not bad, especially when always in the shadows of Alabama. It’s the equivalent of UCLA being in the shadows of USC.

Auburn is a shitty job unless it's your last job. Boosters run Auburn and interfere with everything usurping the coach (and Presidents) power. The upside of the Auburn job is the boosters are willing to pay HUGE buy outs to every coach they hire.

Remind me what Kevin Steels record is as a HC? The game has passed people like Steele. Steele is an Auburn faithful and used to be a great assistant. But the game has drastically changed and no longer fits his style of play anymore, especially defensively.

Names I haven't seen mentioned. Dino Babers, Dave Clawson, Clay Helton or his brother Tyson Helton. Not really big names, but are decent coaches. Bruce Pearl was an unknown at one time too. I would look for the style of football desired then find the coach that most closely runs that style successfully. There are great coaches at every level of football, I'm just not certain it transfers as well in football as it can in basketball. Given the size and management responsibilities of football over basketball (many more people to oversee and added distractions of big time college football) not to mention recruiting ability which could be unknown unless a big name comes along with a track record in big time football, maybe too big of a risk.
