Eh, I still think the bigger issue is that offense has overtaken defense over the past few years in cfb. Offensive players are more refined entering college (as well as the NFL) than they were even just a decade ago, especially with all the 7-on-7 stuff and camps. College defenses, which Saban rode to multiple championships, can't dominate like they used to. 2021 Georgia was a historically good defense and still gave up 500+ yards to a Bama offense that wasn't even as good as some of the other recent offenses we've seen.
Saban's entire defense can be 5-star players, but only a handful of those guys are NFL-ready players in a given year. Meanwhile, offenses today might have entire WR rooms that could literally start for the Texans on Sunday (see 2019 LSU, 2020 Bama, 2021 OSU, etc). I mean cmon, just look at all the great young QB's, WR's, and RB's we now see in the NFL.
