I think Oats’ unique offensive style and philosophy probably intrigues other programs wanting to get a piece of that more so than assistants at other programs. Honestly kind of the same thing that attracts football programs to assistants that might have insight to the Saban system. Hasn’t worked out much in football, we’ll see if it works for other basketball programs.

I'm sure the style of play and how rapidly it turned our program around is a big part of it. I guess I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of all the guys who worked for all time great coaches like Roy, Izzo, Coach K, etc. for years and years before being hired away. It's a bit unusual for a basketball coach to spend 4 years as a P-6 assistant before getting hired even by a mid-major. Typically basketball coaches either toil around in relative obscurity at small schools while slowly climbing the HC ladder or they spend like a decade or more as an assistant at top tier programs before getting an opportunity to run their own. Historically the Saban assistant hiring model of "we can't beat him, so let's hire someone who may know how he beats us" isn't all that applicable to college basketball.
