Just a fan here but I think we would benefit from moving Arnold to inside when we’re in nickel and have ricks play outside. Arnold would’ve been a much better option inside than Moore or Branch.

Hellams is the first one that needs to sit.

He’s good in run support but you may be right and we could move branch to safety.

Bama needs a player at safety with ball skills, closing speed, and football savvy. 2 and 9 don't fit the requirement. 14 has shite the bed these past two weeks and 13 still getting on the field speaks volumes at the depth behind him.

Hellams doesn't need to sit because he's excellent in run support. I think they should move Hellams to LB and put Branch at deep safety because he reads better.

Then add Eli Ricks.

Branch has been our best DB with Kool-Aid. Moore on the other hand should be riding the extruded aluminum.

Jalin Hyatt is a legit 4.3 40 YD guy. They played him off the line / slot and stacked so we could not play bump and run with him.

We covered him with Hellams (4.55 40 YD guy) And later with Malachi Moore (4.5 40 YD guy). Only way to get away with that is to bracket him high/low. We never did that.

Lets put Eli Ricks on him?? (mid 4.5 40 YD guy) whose best game is bump and run and not good at Zone

Khyree Jackson?? (mid 4.5 40 YD guy)

Jordan Battle?? slower than Hellams in the high 4.5 ~ low 4.6 range.

Only guy we have in the DB group (non true freshman) that could come close to running with Hyatt is Kool-Aid (low to mid 4.4 guy) and they kept him away from Kool-Aid (coaching).

Our only real choice was two deep to bracket cover him which we did not do often enough because that would take the safeties out of run support.

After three touchdowns you’d think a little running game would be the lesser of two evils. Guess not in sabans eyes

With that public torching display continuously in full view, One just has to wonder how much time the staff devotes to having a Plan B or C ready, and how receptive they are to mid game revisions.

And giving the ball back to the ut offense at the end was mind blowing as well. SMH.

Had we somewhat stopped the deep threat it would have slowed the game down a lot. Even if they had some success in the run. A lot less points in the game but probably still coming down to the wire.

I guess one good thing did come out of the game as far as the defense goes. Late in the 4th quarter they were not overly tired. They were able to get off the field quickly a bunch of times rather than long drives. Granted, the getting off of the field was more because of a number of long strike scoring passes.

That’s so impressive you know these guys 40 times. TRob said Kool-Aid is not the most physically gifted so I suppose you’ve memorized the 40 times reported at 247.

Yeah the defense had a lot in the tank. The one good stop we had, we muff the punt. That was a turning point to me. I know we got the scoop and score but the hits kept coming after that.

The high bracket would have worked. They would have thrown underneath but at least our top isn’t taken off every 3 plays.

This isn’t madden man. If it were as simple as throw it deep to the fast guy Isaiah Bond would be in the heisman race. The DB has a head start, you don’t have to be as fast as a guy to cover him. It’s not like Hyatt was making contested catches, he was wide arse open.

A lot of it is speed. Something we say a lot here is elite speed. We don’t have it at safety and barely at DB. It is as simple as running past us when he can’t play bump and run.
