Noon on espn:
-Ark vs Miss St
-miZzzouri vs FL
-Tenn vs LSU
-Texas vs OKlahoma

Vs

Noon on Fox:
Michigan vs Indiana

Hmmm What are they so afraid of suddenly? Leaders don’t move every chess piece to noon to combat Michigan Indiana

They also don’t shoot every bullet in the magazine at noon leaving Clemson vs Boston College as their only play against three other networks in the prime time evening slot. Tenn/lsu would have been perfect there

I kind of like the shift toward early games though honestly

Isn’t Texas-OU always at Noon? Part of the state fair schedule.

Correct

But LSU UT should not be at noon

It wouldn’t be, if not for what Fox has built at noon.

The other thing that might play into this is that espn has all four wild card baseball games Saturday. So maybe they’re counting on those numbers to lift the evening ratings, so they push as many college football games to noon to siphon off as many viewers possible from Fox.

It’s gotta be something along those lines. Not sure. Only thing that is for certain though is that the convenience and enjoyment of us actual viewers is taken into consideration dead last.

Normally I would agree with you, but Kansas is 5-0 and ranked as is their opponent TCU is 4-0 and ranked.

I agree it is not a marquee matchup, but it is an intriguing one.

I think this was a big mistake, but CBS has openly said they picked our game becuase they haven't shown us yet this year and the next chance they'd get is JAcksonville, and they didn't want to go so long without showing the #1 team (#2 now, but still...). I guess that logic is understandable to draw in eyeballs of casuals or people that don't really follow CFB. Which would leave this game as having to be in this slot

-miZzzouri vs FL

this game screams noon. Also worth noting it's on ESPNU which definitely isn't included in normal standard cable packages. I'd ahve to look but I can't recall us EVER having a football game on ESPNU. This is probably the worst slot you can have aside from SECN+Streaming only

-Ark vs Miss St

could be a sneaky good game but probably doesn't carry a lot of intirgue outside of a regional perspective

Let's look at the other SEC games. Double header weekend so CBS put what they assume dwould be the best game at 8 to give the wrestling mic callout storyline of saban/jimbo. Then us in the afteroon to showcase the #1 (or 2) team. The SEC night game is a team that was just ranked in the top 10 but is coming off a loss but it made sense a week ago. The last pick and "worst" game of the day is always the 4pm SECN slot which is ole miss/vandy. So I think the noon slot games make sense in regards to the full picture

it actually has a lot to do with what Jefferson is saying about owning the time slot. This article is several years old but hits the high points

quote:

From 1950 through 1972, every OU-Texas game started at from 2 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Then in 1973, 1978, 1980 and 1981, the game kicked off at 11:50 a.m. Those were the days when only one or two games per day were televised across the country. Not until 1998 did a morning kickoff return. But in recent years, the morning kickoff has become standard. Nine of the last 11 OU-Texas games have kicked off at 11 a.m

quote:

It's not a conspiracy. It's just business. The 11 a.m. Saturday television window has become precious in the sight of television executives

quote:

The 11 a.m. window no longer is where lesser matchups are shoved, waiting for the plush 2:30 p.m. and prime-time showdowns. You can blame it partly on the SEC — CBS' 2:30 p.m. Southeastern Conference games have been college football's highest-rated package nine straight years. In 2017, the SEC on CBS averaged five million viewers per Saturday.
Fox and ESPN/ABC have decided not to butt heads with Alabama. Instead, they trot out marquee games early, in hope that eyeballs watching at 11 a.m. will stay all day. Or at least win the early window.

Noon kickoff is basically the breaking point where TV demands are dictated above the attending fan experience at major games.

-Red River is always at noon
-ESPN and ESPN2 are carrying MLB playoffs tomorrow night
-Bama vs ATM is the CBS night game of the year

Any other conspiracies?

Thanks parrot boy. I already said that

If LSU-TN was on at same time, I’d watch that one instead.
