Hurricane Ian looks like it may make landfall Thursday around Tampa.

I'm guessing 100% chance if hurricane stays present course. They will want to keep roads open for people trying to get out or back end. Clean up crews. Plus Gainesville will get along of wind etc..

If it lands on Wednesday or Thursday, I doubt they cancel.
Friday or Saturday and they could, but if it doesn't land until Friday or Saturday then it'll be because it's hitting in the panhandle/Alabama/Mississippi area. And if it did hit that area, it's going to be extremely weak because there is a shite ton of dry air from a high pressure out west that'll be pulled in, and the upper ridge that's pushing down on the east coast would have moved well east for that to happen.
Probably be down to a cat 1 by the time it reaches Tampa for the same reason. I'm in the path, haven't decided if I am going to leave or not, leaning towards stay since I'm in Zone D.
LSU fans likely gonna have to wait to melt over a game that was rescheduled years ago. But I guess there is still a chance...

I think that's just because it's going up the coast line and nobody really knows when it will go ashore.
If it hits south of Tampa, it'll be much stronger. If it moves north of Tampa, it will be much weaker.
Models over the past 24 hours have been tracking it more and more east. Increasing the odds of it landing before Tampa. But the GFS still has it hitting right around Tampa, even in the update going on now.

The new model has it making landfall just north of Tampa. Slowing to 2 to 3 mph, out in the gulf. Before making landfall. Possibly 10 to 12 feet of storm surge in and near Tampa Bay. A storm churning barely off the coast for 24 hours or so.
This is going to suck.

This is exactly what happened when Harvey hit Houston.

I live just north of Tampa. If it follows that path it will be like 2 days of the crap. The only good thing is that it'll be getting weaker the entire time it's out there doing it.

I don't think they have much of a choice. This storm is going to be a bitch and cause a ton of property damage across the state. Members of the team and their families will be affected. Not to mention Eastern Washington has to make travel plans several days out.

hate it for the Florida & Gulf residents - it's usually these storms that cross over and hit the Atlantic again around the St Johns River and then dumps tons of rain all over SE GA & SC.

This game is 100% going to get moved or canceled.
I can't imagine flying Eastern Washington in on Thursday or Friday if it's hitting us.
I am all for moving the game somewhere else as we need the game to shore things up.

Probably seems like it’s gonna do damage. We don’t only cancel LSU contrary to popular belief.

Six years later, and LSU fans are STILL salty.
Man, I loved that makeup game in TS at 11am in November soooo much.
