Tubs throws Gus under the bus:
He gives advice to Hars:
When asked about Hars being fired before the season is over:
In other words, Tubs doesn't want Harsin Jetgated and wants the team to unite.

quote:
"A lot of this problem has been amassing over the last few years from the previous coaching staff.
He gives advice to Hars:
quote:
They haven't played very well. They haven't been consistent. The advice I'd give him is you're the coach at Auburn. Continue to make your football team better. Don't worry about the noise from the outside…the social media. It's going to be there no matter what you're doing. You've just got to do the best you can. Be the leader on and off the field. Do the best you can and try to continue to motivate these players. The players are what win and lose the games, not the coaches. It's a hard job being a coach, especially in the SEC."
When asked about Hars being fired before the season is over:
quote:
"They've got a contract. Let them finish it out and at the end of the year, the people in charge need to make a decision. You can't tell about a football season until the end. You never know what's going to happen. As long as your players are working hard, motivated, playing together, I think you should give the opportunity for the coach to show what they can do.
In other words, Tubs doesn't want Harsin Jetgated and wants the team to unite.

A good summarization of his opinion …

"You've got to remember, too (if) you change a coaching staff, you've pretty much destroyed all those seniors on that football team. You've taken a chance and an opportunity away from them to enjoy their senior year and hopefully have a positive effect."

I disagree with Tubs (again)
If the season got worst Harsin would get the boo birds and players would get indirect fire.
If you fire Harsin, the interim would carry out the season as expected and the talk can go back to the players doing their best
More parents need to seek out Blackerby in other words.
I don’t care to hear from Tuberville unless that embarrassment wants to give me some insider trading stock picks.

He’s just trying to deflect attention in the state from his insider trading scandal that’s coming to light: Tommy Tuberville’s well-timed stock trades raise questions, face legislative threat

Problem is.. there will always be coaching changes and there will always be seniors it affects... At any school.
I wouldn't consider this a reason for not changing a coaching staff.

I remember Tuberville defending Gus a couple years back and talking down about Auburn.
He’s a politician after all, so take it with salt.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tubs in trouble over the stock trading if it would get all the dems doing the same crap. Saw where the horse mouthed ex bartender from New York is now worth over 30 million since joining congress and Pelosi has made several brilliant and timely buys herself. But we all know that's Different.

There’s not a poster here that wouldn’t trade half of what Tubs did while here for what we have now.

The main problem from which most of the other problems grew is the lack of offensive line recruiting and development.
Even the QB problems as Bo would be at Auburn today if the OL was competent.
Gus started the problem with his inability to recruit OL and Harsin continued the problem with his inability to get OL from the portal or high school ranks.
It doesn’t matter what the next guy says or does if he does not fill the OL needs he won’t win either.

True, but nowadays you can now throw money at the problem in the open.

Yeah it's almost like the whole system is corrupt and the game is rigged all the way around. Who knew.

Being 9-4 when LSU is the only decent threat in the west does make for fine nostalgia.

Tubs would know all about lazy recruiting
