I do, but I don't understand how we should pray. In secret, or in the streets? It seems to me that people probably haven't changed much, so the bible should still apply. I just don't know which passage applies.

Anyway, I'm not actually interested in the replies. I know some of you guys have practiced your defenses for the nonsense, and that most have never and don't want to consider that it's a cobbled together book of hand-me-down myths. That doesn't mean there's nothing worthwhile in the book, but there's nothing revolutionary there that hasn't been considered by every other civilized society.

Sorry for getting off an a fable tangent. Y'all enjoy your day. Toodles.

You don't understand because you're hung up on the what. The Bible doesn't particularly care about "what" when it comes to matters of worship. It cares about "why".

So should you pray in the streets? Yes. If your motivation is to glorify God. Should you pray in secret? Yes. If your motivation is to glorify God. If your motivation us to glorify yourself, you shouldn't pray regardless of the location.

One thing to consider when handling scripture - especially the Gosple accounts - is that this is a real moment in time which has been recorded. In the passage where Christ seemingly forbids public prayer, you had religious leaders who were trying to gain political power by out-righteousing each other. It was this attempt to manipulate the masses which Christ was condemning. Not the actions themselves.
