Ok, let's say you're right.

How about this one? Also out of context, I bet... [Matt. 6]
I hoped that you would have read my response and learned to read the Bible in context. It seems you didn't learn anything, so let's try again.

The rest of the passage in Matthew chapter 6 explains what is being taught. Here is the full passage:

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

The example Jesus gives of such practice is the hypocritical gestures that the Jews of the time were doing where they were drawing attention to themselves for the sake of boosting their own image and reputation in the eyes of the people. "Giving in secret" was commanded in contrast to drawing attention to yourself publicly for your gifts of service. The Bible teaches us that all glory should go to God (1 Cor. 10:31), and when we make a spectacle out of ourselves for the purpose of our own glory, we're robbing God of what belongs to Him.

So again, this isn't a contradiction. Read the context for understanding rather than looking for a "gotcha". It just makes you look foolish.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. I was hoping for one of the more challenging supposed contradictions. But all he's got is basic Sunday school stuff.

So, should we pray alone, or out in the streets?
