Mizzou fans...rebuttal

There are posts claiming Mizzou fans are "piss poor."
Let me state that I've bought more hats, t-shirts, jackets, snow globes, Mizzou Santas, Mizzou Brew beer, and tickets to games than most alums.
Now...do I have the right to be pissed and tired of our sports being the laughing-fricking stock of college sports?
If not, well, you're a better man than I am Gunga Din.

Mizzou Santas. Now that is dedication. I thought I was hot shite with my Mizzou football ornament.

I mean, sure, but do you think a swirl of negativity amongst the fanbase helps or hurts the program?

It’s too late for that. The athletic department has not provided anything to be positive about for quite some time.

And…?
We finally have some forward momentum in recruiting, a light at the end of the tunnel, and Mizzou fans are now intent on choking the coach out 3 games into his 3rd season. It’s absurd of course, but certainly not unexpected.
So yeah, shite all over everything possible until you get the coach fired and we can start over again and again and again. Sounds promising

You’re over reacting to the over reacting.
Drinkwitz isn’t going anywhere.
His team sucks and it’s in no small part his doing. He can take few barbed criticisms. He’s making $4M.

And yeah, I realize this is a losing battle because fans gonna fan but I simply don’t understand why so many people fail to realize this or just flat out don’t care.

So we should pretend our team is getting better?
What’s the goal? We should say “I like watching pig shite football. M-I-Z!” I mean I guess that’s a tack we could take.

Well, you could realize that coaching at Missouri in the SEC is a VERY difficult job and also our last good coach was 5 years into the job before he got the ball rolling. Or you could look at the other numerous examples of good coaches that took several years to build their programs.
Or you could just constantly shite all over the best recruiter we’ve ever had before he’s even halfway through his 3rd season and do your best to make sure he doesn’t succeed so that we can fire him and start over again.
Seems to be a pretty easy choice here, but no one can stop anyone from being a miserable SOB.

As long as Drink can reflect and understand what he is doing from a play calling stand point. He needs to hire someone else to call plays based on what we have seen.
If he cannot diagnose his own glaring weaknesses then I don’t care if he has recruited well to this point or not. Players aren’t dumb they will see it for what it is and transfer.
If he has the capacity to be a better in game coach, then great. If he doesn’t then he needs to go.
Personally, I don’t think he sees a problem with his offensive play calling duties- and that’s my main concern with him. If I was the AD I would be asking that question and if I didn’t like the answer I would already be coach shopping.

This.
Love the guy's moxie. Hate his inability to self-reflect and adjust.
If he gets an OC and recruits better in the trenches, he should get 2+ more years. If he doesn't, find someone with his guile but is more humble when faced with adversity.

There's more than recruiting in being a HC. Which is important.
I'm done with Drinkwitz. Drink is "Odom II" with a little better sales ability but not the azzhole that Odom was. Drink doesn't know what he's doing in hiring, player eval, O play calling and game management. That's a lot to improve while pulling down $4M per. I've seen this play-out before. The Missouri School for Beginning SEC Coaches is bullshite. Hire a "Stoops" (that knows what the hell he's doing) then I'll agree with the patient approach. We do not have that in HC Drink and it's more than evident. We need an experienced coach that has built even a lower-level a program before as a HC.

Play calling is such a weak crutch that fans use. No one on this board could tell you why a play was called against a certain defense or what tendencies our opponent display on defense and the best way to attack it. The extent of the knowledge by any complaining is…”it didn’t work” Even then, no one could tell you if it didn’t work because a player missed an assignment or the QB made a bad read, or the RB missed an open hope etc… Or maybe it was just a bad call, that happens but no one here would know that. When complaining about a play call just know that the guy calling it knows INFINITELY more than you do and the offensive staff has spent the entire week breaking down the defense they will play and there are reasons you don’t understand for why they do what they do.
That being said, I’m not against hiring an OC if it opens up some time for Drink in other areas.

Hire a "Stoops"
Stoops had ZERO head coaching experience when he was hired. It took him until year 4 to get to 7-6 and year 6 before he really had a breakthrough season.
You would have been “done with him” after two years also which is the perfect illustration of my point.

While true about this board and most boards, I've read what others with great football knowledge and experience have said about HC rookie. Drink does not have much of a clue. Hell, he's still trying to figure out his best five O-linemen. He's over his head. That's why I'm done with him.

I have bad news for you. You being a little Ray of sunshine doesn’t mean our team is going to be better. Nor does it mean Drink will get better.
I’m all in on keeping him until it becomes obvious that he’s not the answer. And then keep him one more year.
