Was it all Allen Greene? It was a bewildering hire from the get-go. NEVER made any sense and even less now. Was it Allen Greene's choice alone, or were our boosters involved?

I've missed you guys. It has been years since I posted.

Did something I swore that I wasn't going to do again---got married, had a couple of more kids. They've been cutting into my football time.

Yes. He and greene wife swapped in a hot tub and that’s how we got stuck with harsin. We all thought it was better than Steele. Seems the money guys know better than us. I’m 100% on board with whoever they need to control.

Dang! It has been a while. I haven't lived in Grant in over 10 years. LOL

Need to update my profile I think!

So none of you guys really know...LOL

I can't believe that Greene made the decision all on his own, even though he will ultimately be held solely responsible for it.

Napier said no. The boosters wanted a smooth transition instead of burning the house down and wanted Steele until Saban retired. Green went on his own and hired Harsin. The pedigree was there. The understanding of how the SEC works wasn’t there for ADAG or Harsin.

If I recall correctly Napier turned us down. Sark interviewed but we didn't offer we were running out of options then Al Green remembered he met Harsin one time in a hot tub and boom!

No they weren’t mailing it in. Steele is well liked in the Auburn circles of power. They thought the offense was the issue. Steele defense with better offense means more wins and could recruit.

The saying waiting Saban out is a real thing. Dude signs the number 1 class every other year and those other years he gets the 2nd

gotcha, that makes sense. in a sense, that is mailing it in until he retires. but it isn't the worst strategy. at this point it's hard to say that wouldn't have been better than where we are now.

No one outside of Yella, the prez and Alan Greene knows the truth about who was or wasn't offered. I am sure numerous people were contacted, but it doesn't mean they were offered a contract to sign.

Was Napier the one who said he didn't know who he'd be working for at Auburn?

Veneables was flown in by a booster, and nobody in the athletic department even knew he was coming. That’s his story anyway.

The supposed rumor with Napier is that he was basically told he'd have to keep certain assistants on staff/assistant coach budget was going to be lower than it was for Gus.
