How come Saban didn't go for a young up and coming OC?

Saban went that way for Golden. He could've hired a young guy with the understanding he'd stay at Bama for at least 4 years.

The plan was for Sark to stay another year. I think Saban saw an easy hire with good Belichick credentials in BoB. Same thing happened after 2016.

But you’re right. The whole point of hiring Kiffin (and Sark) was to modernize the offense. We’ve regressed under BoB

He probably feels more comfortable with a DC being young but not with an OC. He can fill the gaps for a DC but not an OC>

I think he wanted someone who would stay at Alabama for more than one year after all of the coordinator turnover we’ve had since around 2015.
