I’m gonna have faith Lane is sticking around and that him and Carter hopefully have good chemistry and a vision to build something longer term. If not, I’ll be disappointed when he takes Auburn job or whatever when he leaves when it happens. Personally, taking the Auburn job would be lame AF and a lateral move, and would make me lose all respect for Kiffin. To me it boils down to this: Has Lane *really* grown and changed, or will he solidify a flaky resume?

I understand his leaving UT abruptly for USCw as that was his dream job. But he’s put a lot of work into refining his image, and a move to Auburn crushes that. 10 win season is cool but Lane hasn’t really proven anything here yet. He had a Dan Mullen year this year. Won the easy games upfront then is essentially losing out to the real competition. Let us not forget Vandy kicked our arse for a half of football.

Leaving at this stage would simply be for $ which OM is willing to pay the man very well.

If LK goes to Auburn, everything said about him will be confirmed and used against him in recruiting. He will not be able to build that dream team like the Aubred fans think he can. His ceiling is higher at Ole Miss because he, himself, is in a much stronger position just by staying. If he goes, he deserves that place and their idiot cult fans.

Lane has complained about lack of fan support/NIL/etc. and for the most part all of his demands have been met (and then some). That’s fine, but to follow it with laying an absolute egg against an inferior opponent while in talks with a divisional rival, the chickens will come home to roost. And rightfully so.

I’m not naive enough to say that Auburn is a lateral move from Ole Miss, but it’s one that I don’t think makes sense for Kiffin at this point in his career. It pretty much writes him off from ever coaching at Alabama, and instantly puts 2x the pressure on him to win that he has now at Ole Miss. A couple 8-4’s over on the plains and he’ll find himself starting over again at a place like FAU.
