Yeah I didn’t understand that. Shouldn’t the clock start on the whistle?

The TO challenge plus Norvell calling a timeout after the challenge effectively negated the running clock.

The clock was going to start when the ref blew the whistle. That is why LSU was on the line ready to snap it as soon as the whistle blew. Then FSU called a TO.

The ref did say LSU had time for one play I guess alluding to the question of whether there was enough time to get a play off. If ref got the out of bounds call right then the game was over.

Still would have gotten the snap off. So it was irrelevant.
