re: Class of 2025 Football Recruiting MEGATHREAD

This is from an OSU insider who spoke to the father of a number of top players (I'm not sure who has that many kids who are being recruited by Bama and OSU so my bet is it is Uiagalelei but not for sure) at the OSU game who compared Bama and OSU in the NIL era and how they "pitch" kids on visits. Figured you would find it interesting

He said when they went to Ohio State it was a pretty well rounded pitch that included a 2 1/2 hour meeting on an academic plan and a discussion that included sample class schedules, syllabus, and course outlines for his kid's areas of interest. They also met with representatives of the particular department they would be studying in---as well as the head of the academic mentoring program.

The discussion about NIL was really "forward looking" and spoke about future opportunities for his sons were they to head to the Buckeyes. Talked a lot about the size of deals in the recent past and how those might translate to deals for his sons once they hit the campus.

He said it couldn't have been more different at Alabama. He said the academic pitch was about 30 minutes and mainly talked about class schedule and how it would co-exist with the demands of the football team.

Said the discussion about NIL was about potential offers they could see "right then, right now"---and what other players had gotten before, during and after their tenure at Alabama.

Said the main difference was "At Alabama---its ALL about football--developing your son---winning NC's--getting to the league. And getting paid via NIL in the mean time. Period. End. Not saying it was better or worse, but it couldn't have been more different"
