Conference games in week 1 are a dumb gimmick and another reason the B1G will never touch the SEC.

Also, this Thursday Mizzou will take down the Bulldogs of LA Tech in dominating fashion, in front of a national audience (ESPNU). 10s of thousands of viewers will watch in awe as a revamped Tigers team reveals its first glimpses of greatness on their way back to their rightful spot in the SEC Championship game. Set your DVRs fellas

Is Mizzou relevant again? If our new coach returns us to average LA Tech standards, watch your arse. Tech is an offensive team and always score points. Can't close out a game...but can always compete.

I don't see why it's a gimmick to start the season with games that matter.

If there was one good thing about the 2020 season it was that immediate conference intensity from day 1.

SEC used to do it too.

Ole Miss opened up the 2013 season on a Thursday night in a barnburner against a 9-win Vandy team.

There are many other examples too.
