There was as much debate in the BCS era as the poll era. Didn’t solve anything. The playoff solves everything and needs to expand to 12.

No, the playoff should go to the Top 6 (with 1 and 2 getting a bye), and that should be it. Anything above that completely negates the results of the regular season.

Except it doesn't. It cheapens the value of regular season, creates more opportunity for key injuries in games that are almost a foregone conclusion before they start, and, worse, only injects more money corruption into a game that has been ruined by the chase for the almighty $$.

The BCS at its end typically had it right. The playoff committee has no transparency and is more political than anything. Bring back the BCS model, but replace Harris Poll with the committee and throw out the Coaches Poll. Make the computer polls display their methodology openly and make committee member votes known. Keep it at 4 teams.
