We used to drive by it all the time in the 80's. We lived in Greenville, SC and my grandparents lived in Wilkes Co. It's in a really sleepy area of GA. I drove by it in 2010. I noticed they had security cameras around it. There is mystery around who erected it but my theory is some wealthy guy in Elbert Co wanted to leave some obtuse monument after he died. update: Well, looks like the Elberton Granite association decided to demolish it rather than repair it. I'm sure they figured there would be follow-up attacks by teenagers and radicals and just decided to go ahead and put it to rest. Elberton is a quite town and I'm sure they want to avoid drama - LINK

Elberton is where the granite quarries are. Some local contractor built these things at the request of some billionaire that flew to Elberton so his wife could pick out countertops for the New Zealand compound and would have built a giant granite dildo if he was asked to for what he got paid. Dude made a killing and if still alive is probably glad they’re gone.

It’s not about who built it. It’s about the type of people who can waste half a million in 1980 dollars on something like that for kicks.

Why is it only and always the creepy mega wealthy elite that are obsessed with eugenics and population control? And since they and theirs obviously won’t be included in the lottery system to pick which ones of us are eradicated, why on earth would anyone listen to these exact same people’s lectures about mandatory vaccines , or humans causing climate change, or that we need to give up our guns, or etc etc?
