I met him after retirement. I knew he wasn’t big but was surprised how short he was. But, damn, he and Clayton were so good with Dan.

Sofla, this bit is a big deal for LSU.
There is a lot of talent in Louisiana. Usually you can count on elite defensive linemen, wide receivers, defensive backs, and some solid running backs year in, year out. I'm not sure why it always seems to work out like that, but that's just what this state produces. Then you've got a year like this coming class where you have 3 QB's that are near the top in their class, and it looks like LSU will miss out on all of them.
The whole "build a wall around Louisiana" is just a joke. Ed Orgeron did a great job of bringing every 5 star here, but we will never get every elite player at a given position in every class. The successful LSU coach will be able to pick up the guys in state that he needs and fill the roster with out-of-staters. Les Miles gave up on that in his last few years, and it cost him his job.
