Final mocks from some sites.
Surprising Evan Neal has slid down the board. From possible No 1 to not even the number one tackle. His range being projected from 5-9.
Anybody know why?
Jameson’s stock has shot up to possible top ten from the early to late 20’s.

It’s just based on team needs. They don’t anticipate some teams needing OTs over all else.

In addition, I think Neal and that NCSU OT are seen as being near even

I'd read where some teams question whether Evans has a "mean streak" like the other top couple OTs. No questioning his talent.

I was hoping Williams might be there at #21 for Mac and the Patriots, but looks like he'll be gone well before then.

Pretty much guaranteed to be a 2 first rounders draft for Bama...no real borderline first round guys.

I do think Neal not doing a lot of the testing hurt him. Showing equal or better testing to the other tackles would have probably kept him as a guaranteed first tackle off the board. And I think if he did test, his numbers likely would have been quite good.

There could always be a James Carpenter coming out of left field.

Jameson Williams and John Metchie draft buzz is growing (The Athletic-Paywall)

quote:

Alabama wideouts Jameson Williams and John Metchie, who each tore their ACLs last season, are continuing their impressive recoveries, according to several team sources who have evaluated the prospects’ medical situations. Both showed normal progress during their combine medical rechecks last week.

“Metchie is going to be just fine,” an offensive coach told The Athletic. “They all feel good about Jameson. Metchie is like a freak show with how far ahead he is, almost like an Adrian Peterson (recovery). The doctors down there are saying it’s amazing how fast he’s recovering.”

quote:

Another offensive coach took it one step further, saying Williams should be in strong consideration for the Jets at No. 10.

“He’s going in the first round for sure,” the coach said. “If the Jets don’t pick him, they’re crazy.”

I could see someone reaching for Christian Harris at the end of the first. Or perhaps Mathis.

Yeah that didn’t help him. Also possibly injury concerns
Some teams medically failed and removed from their draft board Alabama LT Evan Neal and Central Michigan OT Bernhard Raimann.

I wouldn't wish the Jets or Lions on any player. There are rebuilding teams...and then there are perpetually rebuilding teams. These two are the latter.

Houston needs to pick the best player available at every pick. They need to completely rebuild. BOB really screwed them over.

Atlanta shouldn't pick Jameson. They need to build their defensive front. They need to start rebuilding and just tank for Stroud or Bryce next year. If possible they should trade back a few spots and pick the DE from FSU. If they can't trade back just pick him with number 8.

Read where there are serious off field concerns about that DL from FSU. Him and Pickens were two red flag guys.

Atlanta is perpetually trying to build their DL and find a pass rush. My thinking is they get JW at #8 this year in anticipation of getting a top QB in '23. Kinda what I think the Saints should do...draft this year to help your future rookie QB next year.

James and Kareem Jackson have made a ton of money since they left the U of A.

In the last 20 years the Falcons have drafted 4 defensive front 7 players who made a Pro Bowl, only 3 of whom made the Pro Bowl as Falcons, and only 1 of whom has been selected to multiple Pro Bowls.

They are arguably the worst defensive drafting franchise in the entire NFL.

I haven't seen anything indicating red flags for Johnson. I know I wouldn't want my team to draft Thibodeaux. Maybe I'm wrong but he seems like a guy he is going to be a bust.

IMO, Atlanta isn't one draft away from turning things around. They should look at taking 2-3 drafts to get where they want to be.
