Should have that covered by halftime. It'll take Lanning a few years to beat the west coast softness out of Oregon. I fully expect our coaching staff to watch the two Utah/Oregon games last year and base their gameplan around them.

This is for the Oregon fans months from now that will creep on our board looking to gauge our fanbase’s temperature RE: this game…

We going in dry, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

You’re getting mail, bitch

We will be on a three game win streak against 3 major programs after this one’s over.

Might be worse than 42-10.
First time head coach.
Traveling cross country.
To play his former boss and players that he recruited and coached.
In a hostile environment that’s basically a home game for the defending national champs.
With a first year in his system QB.
Playing against a 24 year old 6th year veteran Qb playing with nothing to lose and lots of familiar targets around him.
Will Kirby have a similar to saban undefeated streak against former assistants ?

Lanning has a small advantage knowing what offense and defense we run. I don’t think it will be that crazy, the spread seems about right. 31-17

I really don’t even know what Oregon’s roster looks like. Is it loaded with 4 and 5 star players?

It’s pretty good, though they are losing one of their best probably as a first round pick. They have a decent qb, plus Bo Nitz transferred in. I guess he wants to take another loss to Georgia.

I don’t have the answer to what I’m about to say, but I’d guess the rub is how good they are in the trenches.

If they’re standard PAC-12 quality then it doesn’t matter who they have at skill. We’ll run through every motherfricker’s face mask if they aren’t in our league with linemen.

If that’s the case their only prayer is Bo Nix pulling horseshite out of his arse.

They played Utah twice in three weeks. They lost 38-7 and 38-10. Utah plays our style with nowhere near our talent. Do with that information what you will.

I’m probably going to print out that info and take it out to a nice dinner, and call it back the next day.

So this warms my heart. This was from Oregon’s spring game trying to highlight Bo nix, but after the wide open man catches the ball. Just loop once or twice how confused and turned around the DB is.

The WR/te room is going to feast…

This inspired me to peak ahead at the opening week schedule. Pretty lackluster imo

For Saturday…

Stet and the defending National champs vs Oregon
Depleted Utah vs florida
ND vs OH state

The bigger disappointment sets in, though, for the Sunday Monday stand-alones

LSU vs FL state Sunday
GA Tech vs Clemson monday night

Tech vs clemson is criminal for a Labor Day night game. Just awful

Seems like too much

I think we win, but Oregon will be a team to contend with moving forward

With paying players legal, the Ducks are in a great position starting NOW

why? Because it is not just about paying for the best players that wind up being starters and stars, it’s about how deep your team is, and Nike money ought to put Oregon in the hunt more often than not

Transfers are not done yet, I think we win, but that Oregon will be a lot deeper and more competitive than people expect

A lot of teams have failed to utilize a lot of talent over the years. While I love what Lanning did for us, he's untested as a HC. He also might turn out to be a great one, but only time will tell.

It's more likely that he will have some struggles in his first year like Kirby did. I feel pretty good about our chances.

Here's how we've done in openers every year under kirby. I'll also include a completely and totally UNscientific ranking from 1-10 of how I view the opponent AT THE TIME of game, wiht 1 being a 1AA team and 10 being alabama.

'16 UNC (7) - W 33-24
'17 App State (3) - W 31-10
'18 Austin Peay (1) - W 45-0
'19 Vandy (3) - W 30-6
'20 Arkansas (6) - W 37-10
'21 Clemson (8) - W 10-3

We don't really have an apt comparison for this upcoming one. UNC, Arky, and Clemson are the only 3 teams that were actually "good". Clemson was a neutral site that felt more like an away/netural instead of a home/neutral. Araksnas was a true road game in a weird setting with no spring practice. UNC is the most valid comparison in that both teams are pretty good/top 20 and it's in a firnedly home/neutral setting, but in 2016 we were brand new everythign. This year we have some question marks but are mostly plug and play at this point while oregon will be all new everythign. Nix is a great addition for a Pac12 team but we've seen how he's fared against us. I woluldn't bet money on it necessarily but I can easily see 15 being a pretty solid line. 31-14 wouldn't shock me as a final or something like that .

Utah returns a decent bit from last year, IIRC. That is not going to be a fun opener for Napier and that is a game Florida could easily lose. Utah's QB is a good player ( Cam Rising 62 yard TD vs Ohio St).

The hype for this will be off the charts until Ohio State is up 21-3 after the first quarter.

In early September with warm weather, they are going to light up Notre Dame's secondary.
