Can Mike White take over a dumpster fire and build a program basically from scratch? Nothing about his coaching profile suggests he can. But everything about Crean's suggested he could, so maybe they're experimenting with the Costanza method of doing the opposite of whatever your instincts say you should do.

La Tech was bad to mediocre before he took over and he had consistently winning 25+ games.

Given this, they should have hired Mike White and kept Crean as well.
