of Nick Saban. At least that's what Scarbinsky says a "source close to Muschamp" told him...

I'd be pretty pissed if I were Will about this being written.

quote:

Muschamp read the writing on the wall in this state, and it's no coincidence that he left the state when he did.

quote:

According to someone close to Muschamp, he believed Saban would awaken the 800-pound gorilla in Tuscaloosa. He believed Saban would make it happen sooner rather than later.

Having worked for him at LSU and with the Miami Dolphins, Muschamp knew how Saban would make it happen and believed, when it happened, it would make life a lot harder on Auburn.

He was so scared of Saban that he actively pursued the Arkansas job last yr so he could coach against him yearly

Funny though, from the bits I've picked up here and there, he never indicated to Arkansas reps that he was scared of Saban or didn't think Arkansas could compete in the SEC. Quite the contrary really.

If Texas continues to do well, beats OU, etc, I think Muschamp will get the Texas job.

This doesn't sound good for the rest of the Big 12 imho.

The difference here is that Ark isn't in the same state as Saban/bama. Bama doesn't really recruit very much in Ark. Plus I doubt your going to tell someone in a job interview that your scared of another coach in the conference.

If you dont think that article is straight up Bama homerism/propaganda than you need to re-evaluate your life.

Let Bama win 6 in a row and then it's an issue. Bama usually has more talent than Auburn and AU whoops that monkey arse anyway. Tubs has beaten Saban more than he has lost to Saban, so I wouldn't worry one bit if I were an AU fan. Saban had better talent at LSU than he does at Bama and still got beat by Tubs.

I don't know if he's scared (and I doubt it), but Saban will be successful at Bama.

Muschamp is not scared of anything. Book that!! I wish he would come to BAMA as head coach when Saban leaves.

I concur. I support Petrino; however, I was VERY excited when it looked like Muschamp was going to get the Arkansas job last yr

If Muschamp ever got a HC job, somebody is getting the hook up. He deserves a HC job.

I'd say it was a combination of things. He touched on it in the article, but Muschamp was allegedly unhappy with his contract and Jacobs and perhaps Tuberville. I wonder how things were between the two when both were supposedly going after the same job(Arkansas). Of course, knowing what kind of success he could have at Texas and the opportunity to work under Coach Brown. And then, of course, he probably did expect Alabama to take over recruiting in Alabama and it would be downhill for the Auburn Eagles/Plainsmen/Tigers.

I told everyone that Scarbinsky was a hack. Everyone said I felt that way because he was writing stuff critical of Saban.
Well, guess what? He's still a friggin' hack. I don't care what he writes ABOUT, he's a piss poor shadow of a journalist.

This is the only thing he got right in the article, but I guess that doesn't generate a lot of tongue wagging:

quote:

He knew that two of Mack Brown's three previous defensive coordinators at Texas moved directly from that position to a head coaching job. Greg Robinson got the Syracuse gig, and Chizik took over at Iowa State.

I thought that Muschamp was lured to Texas because he was given an offer that resembled Jimbo's contract with FSU. Basically when Mack retires, Muschamp will be the new coach.

Is this wrong?
